Elanah
at Hypzotica 2003Elanah began belly dancing in 1993 after years of tap, jazz and ballroom dancing. Elanah is adept at playing the zills, flying her veil, and showing off her floorwork. She is an American Cabaret style performer and pulls from varying styles to fit her dance to the music at any time. She also enjoys the freedom of the Gypsy Rom style. She loves the creativity and spontaneity of belly dancing.
As
to her non-dancing pursuits:
Elanah's calling has also been as an actress. After many years of studying
and performing in short and non-union films and plays, she is ambitiously
attempting to break into the professional side of the art. She is part of
the creative team and acting pool for L.A. SPECIAL, a variety show soon to
appear on Los Angeles Channel 36.
On
a personal note:
Elanah is the youngest of four girls, the daughter of a chef and accountant,
and the wife of screenwriter/actor Brent W. Beebe. She owns two cats, Skif
and Eek, who provide the household with much joy, love and warmth (see their
pictures, below)..
She reads fantasy and science fiction, autobiographies, histories, and many other types of books. Her favorite authors are Mercedes Lackey and Anne McCaffrey.
She absolutely loves movies. Her favorites areThe Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Star Wars.
Elanah has a fairly large range of musical interests. Her favorite musician is Peter Gabriel, but she listens to all styles of Middle Eastern and other world music, rock, pop, new age, classical, soundtracks, and some alternative rock, jazz and opera.
Currently, Elanah is learning how to bead and paint fabric, figuring that these arts will benefit her costuming for belly dance.
Overall, Elanah has too many interests and too little time, but she does the best with what she's got.
